These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and TaxFile2290.com (“TaxFile2290,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your access to and use of our website and Form 2290 e-filing service (the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What we are (and are not)

TaxFile2290.com is an independent service that helps you prepare and electronically file IRS Form 2290 (Heavy Vehicle Use Tax). We are not the IRS and are not affiliated with any government agency. Content on this site is general information, not legal, tax, or accounting advice. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you submit and for your own tax obligations; consult a qualified professional for advice about your situation.

2. Eligibility & accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information, to keep your account credentials secure, and to be responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

3. Fees & payments

Use of the Service may require payment of a service fee, shown to you before you submit. This service fee is separate from any Heavy Vehicle Use Tax (HVUT) you owe the IRS, which is paid to the IRS by your selected method (Electronic Funds Withdrawal, EFTPS, or check/money order). Service fees are charged through our payment processors (Authorize.net and/or PayPal). Except as required by law or expressly stated, service fees are non-refundable once a return has been transmitted to the IRS.

4. Your responsibilities

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service, including by attempting to access other users’ data, disrupting or probing the Service, submitting false or fraudulent filings, uploading malicious content, or using the Service in violation of any law.

6. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties, including the IRS e-file system, payment processors (Authorize.net, PayPal), Google (sign-in and reCAPTCHA), and Brevo (email). Your use of those features may be subject to the third party’s own terms and privacy policies.

7. Schedule 1 & IRS acceptance

Acceptance of a return is determined solely by the IRS. We transmit your return and return the IRS response (including a stamped Schedule 1 when accepted), but we do not control IRS processing times or decisions, and we are not responsible for IRS rejections caused by inaccurate information you provided.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, TaxFile2290 and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount of service fees you paid to us in the twelve months before the claim.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless TaxFile2290 from claims, losses, and expenses arising out of your use of the Service, your submitted information, or your violation of these Terms.

11. Changes

We may modify the Service or these Terms at any time. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date; your continued use after changes means you accept them.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which TaxFile2290 operates, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
