About TaxFile2290.com

We take the Form 2290 questions truckers actually ask and answer them in language that makes sense at a truck stop — not in IRS-speak.

Why this site exists

Every summer the same thing happens. A driver buys their first truck, sits down to file Form 2290, and immediately hits a wall: the site won’t take their Social Security Number, they can’t tell which weight goes on the form, and nobody can give them a straight answer about whether the trailer counts.

Those questions get asked over and over in trucking communities — and the good answers are buried in long threads next to bad ones. We read through the recurring questions, sorted out what’s actually correct, and wrote it up clearly in one place.

What we do

What we are not

We are not the IRS. TaxFile2290.com is an independent educational resource and is not affiliated with the Internal Revenue Service or any government agency.

This is general information, not tax advice. Every truck and business is a little different. For your specific situation, confirm with the IRS or a qualified tax professional before you file.
